I'm 35 and have had RA since I was 11. My husband and I have been TTC since June to no avail. To make it worse everyone around me is getting pregnant at the drop of a hat Sad . I'm off all my drugs (was on Sulphasalazine, Diclomax, Lansoprazole, Amitriptyline) and am regularly getting flare ups.
Has anyone had problems with ovulating with RA as my cycle seems to be around 8 weeks! Should I see my GP?
Thanks x

Hi!

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to learn that you have RA but you will find looking through the various forum topics a wealth of information and plenty of support.

Be positive and don't give up! It can be pretty devastating when those around you are all announcing that they are pregnant, been there, done that, got the T-shirt! I went through two lots of sub fertility and the gamut of tests after which I had three children, making four in total as I had one prior to the onset of RA. Definitely arrange to see your GP as RA can having a significant affect on fertility. The earlier you see someone the sooner you can get help. There are a number of recent posts on this subject which you will find worth reading and which will perhaps point you in the right direction.

Good luck. Keep posting!

Hello and welcome to the forum, a friendly and really helpful place.

As Lyn says i would defo see your gp to get started on testing and checking things out. I too had probs with ovulating and after a simple bloodtest it showed the egg was not mature enough so i started a cycle of clomid and it got things back on track. Also there are tablets you can take to help sort out the length of your cycle. Hopefully your gp with refer you to the sub fertility clinic in your local hospital.

Goodluck.

Hi!

What I should perhaps have added is that it would probably help the cause if the RA was under control whilst trying to conceive! Whilst the disease is active (flaring regularly suggests this) your cycle will be adversely affected and it is unlikely that you will conceive. An early appointment, maybe with a rheumatologist, to sort out suitable medication and an appointment with a GP to request a referral for investigation should be priority.

And who knows? ... I took Clomid ... had twin boys!! Good luck and let us know how you go on!

Hi everyone,

I’m 32 yrs. old, has stopped my MTX since November 2011. Been ttc for 6mths so far nothing, and still getting regular flare ups. I’m taking Prednisolone 15mg daily, folic acid 5mg and lansoprazole. Been to my GP to check things out and GP found out I got high prolactin hormone and she just referred me to endocrinology (apt in Sep). Just checking if anyone here has been through the same situation as meConfused . It’s really hard for me. I really want a baby Sad . Any advice or comments will be much appreciated.
